A Typical Day on a Barge Holiday in France!
Are you finally planning that much-wanted barge holiday?
France is one of the most popular destinations, and now the world is opening up again, it’s the ideal time to get those travel plans finalised!
While many guests are returning travellers, for first-timers it can be a little daunting if you have no idea of what to expect.
Of course every itinerary is different, but we’ve put together what a ‘typical’ day might look like on a barge holiday.
France’s gorgeous waterways make the perfect vantage from which to explore the food, wine, culture, art and history.

Some people report the most peaceful sleep of their lives on board the barge and it’s not hard to imagine why. The cabins and staterooms are designed for the total comfort of guests, with private bathrooms, air-conditioning and heating and luxurious beds conducive to a tranquil sleep.
You can wake up early or sleep in, it’s totally up to you, but enjoying a leisurely tea or coffee up on deck as the world awakes is a true joy.
The attentive crew members are on hand to ensure you’ve got everything you need during breakfast, which, like all the meals, is prepared by the on board chef. It will comprise a delicious spread of local pastries, fresh fruit and juice, cheese, cold cuts and hot options served up on deck.
If you’re an early riser you might even accompany the chef into the local village to pick up just-baked pastries.

Endulging in wonderful food and wine is a highlight of every barge holiday. France is famous for its cuisine and you’ll be treated to a genuine fine dining gastronomic experience.
The award-winning chefs serve up classic French and international cuisine, designing their menus to reflect the culture of the region through which you travel and talking you through the dishes.
Evening meals are always accompanied by the fantastic local wines and every night is an event of good food, great tastes and excellent company.
